The Kaaba, which was built in the form of a cube from the stones in the harem area of Mecca, is based on the direction each corner faces; It is called Rukn-u Yemani (south), Rukn-u Shami (west), Rukn-u Iraki (north), Haceru'l Esved (east). The 13 m high Kaaba measures 11 m x 12 m.
The first person to have a cover hung on the Kaaba was Esad Abu Kerb, one of the Himyeri kings who ruled in the Yemen region. This practice was continued by our Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) by hanging two covers a year. The red cover was hung on the 10th of Muharram, and the white one was hung on the 27th of Ramadan.
The yellow and silvery cover on black, sent by the Abbasid caliph Nasir Lidinillah in the last days of his caliphate, has survived to this day.
The cover, which is renewed every year, was hung by Hz. It was manufactured for the first time in Egypt during the reign of Ömer, and although its inner cover was manufactured in Istanbul, the capital city for a while, the main production continued in Egypt.
The cover, which started to be produced in Mecca in 1936 by the Saudi Kingdom, which was established in 1924, is still manufactured here in the factory established in its name on the Hudaybiye road.
While the upper part of the cover is attached to the rings on the ceiling of the Kaaba, the lower part is silver on the chazerwan. It is attached to the rings.
Hz. The Kaaba, which Abraham left uncovered, was first discovered by Qusay b., one of the grandfathers of the Prophet (peace be upon him). It was covered with date branches by Kilab.
Utbe b., whose house was nearby during the period of ignorance. The first expansion and special illumination of the Kaaba, which Erzak tried to illuminate with the lamp he hung on its door, was made by Hz. It started during the reign of Ömer and has continued to be developed until today.
